This is a world BioInformatics public service for high speed access to
up-to-date DNA & protein biological sequence databanks. Access to these
databases from their original site is dependant on existing internet
speeds. Creation of mirror sites in specific regions gives rise to easier
accessibility by different countries within those regions. A mirrored
database resource means that the database is supposed to be equivalent to
searching the original database and the mirror is nearly identical to the
original one.
The Bio-Mirror project provides users with high speed access to these
large databases, some of which exceed 10 Gigabytes. The project sites are
connected with the Internet II infrastructure of
vBNS and the Asia-Pacific Advanced
Network
(APAN).
